Diversity – Never enough!
17-25 March – European Action Week Against Racism 2018
Every year, UNITED coordinates a weeklong Europe-wide campaign around 21 March to protest against all forms of racism and discrimination, and celebrate the diversity that enriches European societies.
The European Action Week Against Racism 2018 took place between 17-25 March under the slogan “Diversity – never enough!”
UNITED strongly values its diverse and eclectic network of people and activists around Europe. We called on everyone to celebrate the cultural diversity of Europe – while racist and right-wing forces feed on our differences and want societies to be divided, we focus on what we have in common rather than what separates us. As the European antiracist movement, we aimed to prove that diversity is beautiful and valuable, that there can be never enough of diversity!
There were several ways to join the campaign: organising activities, involving your city government, following the Facebook page and sharing its content, supporting others, spreading the message, joining NGOs, civil society groups, grassroots associations, schools, universities and city governments all over Europe to prove that unity beats division, and that we stand UNITED against racism in all forms.
This year we had five suggested activities that we encouraged civil society organisations to organise to mark the Action Week:
Movie night (you’ll find a list of movie ideas on the website!)
Diversity Party (you’ll find a song list on the website and a United playlist on Spotify!)
Of course, we welcomed everyone to organise any other kinds of activities as part of the campaign, for inspiration, one could have a look at the list of best practice examples on the Week Against Racism website.
